Soulla is a Partner and joint Head of the Family and Child Law Department. She qualified in 1998 and joined Sternberg Reed in 1999. She became a Partner in 2001.
Soulla specialises in public children law cases involving complex facts and areas of law. She has extensive experience in advising parents and extended family members in cases involving allegations of non-accidental injuries, inappropriate physical chastisement, domestic and sexual abuse, mental health difficulties, learning difficulties and drug and alcohol abuse. She has acted in various appeal cases and has a reported case of L-B (Children) (2010) EWCA CIV1463.
Soulla’s practice covers Special Guardianship Orders, Care Orders, Supervision Orders, Emergency Protection Orders and also child abduction.
Soulla has been regularly instructed by the Official Solicitor, in cases where a party lacks capacity to conduct litigation.
Soulla often advises parents before the issue of care proceedings and assisted parents in negotiating a solution with the Local Authority which avoids the Court becoming involved in care proceedings being issued.
She also has particular experience in private children law and in advising in difficult, highly contentious and complex disputes between parents or carers upon separation relating to a child’s residence, contact or other disputes between them.
Soulla works with a number of domestic violence charities and offers a caring approach to ensuring that her clients, and their children, are protected against the threat of further domestic abuse.
She is Accredited with Resolution with specialisms in private children law and domestic abuse.
Soulla’s other area of practice is divorce and financial matters upon separation and divorce.
She encourages her clients where possible, to resolve disputes out of Court and deals with cases in a non-confrontational and constructive manner.
Clients praise her for her friendly, insightful and compassionate approach. She responds quickly to the needs of her clients and offers expert advice to ensure the best possible outcome is obtained for all her clients.
Soulla is also a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children.
